More movies with P. – and assorted travel-related drama. Her grandfather is, if not actually dying, then at least somewhere beyond seriously sick, and so she is going to see him, and I’m going too because I work for her aunt sometimes and there’s some unresolved business on the table I need to deal with..

So that should be interesting, though it makes me most unhappy to miss two band practices.

Oh, hey, actually halfway-produced track @ http://www.sheer.us/stuff/toryalex/RolledGoldEarlyTake.mp3 – Lara, you might like it, it’s pretty close to psytrance..

My voltage tripler just made my problems three times as large. Must take another stab at this from a different direction. Think problem might be low recovery rate of crappy radio shack diodes.

This track actually is pretty cool.

Really.

Bark.

The other thing I did this weekend was provide sound for a party of P.’s classmates.. which mostly meant pushing about 20 watts worth of lounge music.. I just brought the madisons and the li’l 10″ Yamahas.. however, as cleanup rolled around and my stomach was about to turn at the thought of still more lounge music, I dropped in my favorite Paul Van Dyk album and pushed the master fader up.

Wow.

For such light/cheap speakers, those madisons sure move some air. Before long, the twenty or so remaining librarians, fueled by Mac-n-jacks in copius amounts, are doing the funky chicken.. it was a beautiful sight, I tell you. Even with no bass bins, you could feel the kick of the snare.. and I was still a long way from redlining. One li’l amp. I think I may have to trade in the Fender tops for some more madisons – and I’m _definately_ trading that mismatched stack of Yamaha and AB/TEch power amps for some more of the Crown PX700s.. I mean, not only are they powerful, but the Px700s are _light_. Like, tuck it under your arm light – not bad for a kilowatt and a half of very clean sound..

The other neat thing about the madisons is they’re trapizoidal cases – so you can nest three of them to make a good multidirectional main stack for voice.. or stagger them for wikked stereo imaging for music

Must.. throw.. underground.. fluffy.. music.. epic.. trance.. party.. for the remaining six fluffy happy trance fans in Seattle. [There are six of you, right? Right?]

[ANyone know a good venue? Preferrably one where the cops aren’t likely to come by.. My plan is to fund the whole thing myself, with a total out-of-pocket of ~$500, and have it free.. hey, free is good.. ;-)]

Among my goals:

June 6th, 2004

I want to rent a crappy warehouse and turn it into a bar with excessive neon and computer terminals named ‘the gentleman loser’

Unless there already is one, in which case I want to go order a scotch on the rocks. Or a irish coffee. I bet the Gentleman Loser served hella good Irish coffee.

Now, if you’ll all pardon me, I’m going to try out this new tripler topology. Look for me where you hear the loud bangs.

<cough> <Cough>

Well, my flu seems to be having another round of virulance or something.

Went to see Shrek 2 with P. tonight. I loved it – the nod to Ghostbusters with the giant gingerbread man, the ‘I need a Hero’ scenes, and of course Fiona’s decision at the end to have Shrek as a ogre rather than a hunk. Pure fairy tale, of course, and funny

What Famous Leader Are You?

If I were going to be a u.s. prez, I think Bill Clinton would be a pretty accurate analogy.

I did not have sex with that woman…

What would you want to do with me someday?

I didn’t blow myself up, even.

Well, for those of you who didn’t know, I’m doing lighting for a party on Saturday. This required me to get out my generator and test it, which in turn required convincing the EV to move. Since large subsystems were not installed in it, this sounded like a Big Job.

Wasn’t.

Four hours of screw turning, and the main contactor closed with a delightful ‘CLUNK’. Backed it gingerly out of the driveway, then pulled out the genset. Crossed my fingers, said a few prayers to the gods of mechanicals, and flipped the switch to ‘on’. Fuel pump went ‘whhrrrr..rrr…rr..’. Flipped the switch to ‘start’. Crank..crank..crank… and then it roared to life.

Wow. Guess it’s a pretty good generator. Stored for two years, starts in two cranks. Not bad. Settled right down to 60hz, too.

However, having done all this work on the EV, I just had to know.. so I took it for a spin around the block. At first I was little-old-ladying it.. but then after a trip with no problems, I had to find out, so I mashed the pedal to the floor.

WOoooOOOHOOOOOO! The batteries gave up their electrons quite merrily, and I was pressed back into the seat until the V/F fell off at about 5500 revs.

Those Evercells have some life in ’em still, for sure 😉

P. came over last night, and we nuzzled and I felt rather more missing her than I have in ages.. she’s going to come stay for a week I think maybe.. I think she understands clearly what my problems with our relationship were, and that she doesn’t intend to repeat them. Or at least I hope. It was good to see her.

Hope this doesn’t end in disaster..

Well, I shouldn’t still be up, but between duncan parking meters, new friends (I hope they’ll be my friends anyway) dropping by, and other misc things going on..

I’ve posted seven clipped tracks from me + Tory + Alex’s jam session:

What genre is it? Fuck if I know 😉

Also, a new one from me + Esen:

So far this one has 4 votes for ‘disturbing’. Tomorrow I’ll post about why I’m proud of this.

I may have to start backing this stuff up.. startin’ to get some good sounds. I really dig Tory’s keyboard chops and fills, and Alex has the beats in him, though he’s still fighting the 505 to let them come out. [They will, tho]

Also, and I’m unduly proud of this, the beat on track 7 is me! [The cool keyboard riffs are Alex]

Scary, it is.

I was just looking at some republican/conservative propiganda. (www.consumerfreedom.com – they must be kidding. Why is it the republicans are always talking about freedom as they lock up those using their first amendment rights?)

I don’t see how anyone.. liberal, conservative, or otherwise, can vote for bush. I mean, we all know now – he lied to start a war. He ignored the largest protests in history. He’s signing away the bill of rights, he was friends with a man who stole millions from honest workers, his vice president owns stock in a company that makes electronic voting machines guaranteed to lose your vote (if you don’t vote for him ;-)).

But it’s oh so important to stop the tax-and-spend liberals that if we have to vote for pure evil to do it, we will..

Wake up, republicans. There are times when the lesser of the two evils doesn’t belong to your party..

Well, the good news for all of you conservatives out there who keep saying ‘if you don’t like it, leave’.. if Bush gets re-elected, I will.
