Well, it appears that our sound man for tomorrow has flaked. Luckily, so has half of our audiance.. but still, a bit upsetting.
Hopefully I can find someone. Seattle-based LJ friends – if any of you have a clue how to run a board, please let me know. The show is @ 8p on the corner of 45th and 4th..
I’ll pay. 😉

I sent out a small peice of flamebait yesterday (BAD sheer! bad! Bad!) and got flames beyond anything I could have dreamed. A encouraging sign for the development of Sheer is that personal attacks made at me from family members no longer leave much of a dent. If anything, they make me feel sorry for the family members involved. [I mean, I always knew from his SUV driving habits that my dad’s brother was not my type of guy – but I guess I assumed he was a little more of a adult than his replies demonstrated him to be. Interesting. Very. I don’t mind if I terminally sever all connections with my dad’s side of the family, because I never get along with them very well anyway. And, diety of choice willing, if I ever do, it will be because _they_ change. ;-)]
It’s amusing.. I can see bits of myself in them.. I wonder, do I manage to achive the same levels of cluelessness while being convinced of my utter correctness? quite possible. Must think about.

Okay. A lot has happened in the last few days that in some sense, at least, is journalworthy. And I haven’t been updating in weeks.. too busy out there actually living stuff. So, in order:
Work: Sucks. Well, okay, I’ve been making steady process, but everything seems to take longer than I think it will. Ah, the joys of writing in assembly.
Band: Has a show on the 3rd. I’m a bit freaked, but we’ve been sounding tighter and tighter as we spend more time practicing the songs. Should be interesting to see how my neighbor reacts to electronic music.. 😉
Side thoughts: I see in the new yorker ads for a passanger car with four-wheel drive and higher ground clearance than a ford explorer. Am I the only person who thinks this ought to sound a death knell to SUVs?
Music: I got a pair of SRM450s as active monitors for Aug 3’s adventure, and I really can’t say enough about how good these sound. They are by far the best sounding speakers in the house. I keep listening to mp3s on them and hearing new things.. these are _nice_ speakers. And, amazingly, they not only sound really good, they also have a very respectable ability to belt out the watts.
That combined with a monitor mixing system will give each of MC’s members the ability to have their own monitor mix. This should be hugely helpful, and is something I’ve always wanted to have the ability to do.
I’ve been driving my e-scooter lots lately, and I *love* the thing. It’s fast, maneuverable, and perfect for those in-town jaunts. I don’t understand why I don’t see more of them..
Hope you all are having fun weekends.

Today, as I watched the blinking lights and finally achived something like communications between the meter and the board that’s supposed to talk to the meter, I contemplated my future.
I think I don’t want to move to France, or Spokane [two different places where I could certainly get a job writing software for EVs] because I like Seattle. I don’t really want to leave here. It’s hard for me to imagine giving up my emarald city.. [though I sure like to flee during the winters].
If I ever become a rich and famous rock star, I will have several houses.. one in Seattle, one in Rome, and one in SoCal, for sure. 😉
The deadline looms ever closer. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to make it, but we won’t miss by much. And realistically, the client isn’t ever ready to do anything with the software when I get it done. I’m coding as hard as I can over here. 😉
Looking forward to band practice tomorrow. Better get to sleep now.
I have a boring life.

So, woke up this morning to note that the side of my mouth hurt rather a lot. Brushed my teeth, and then took a good look in the mirror..
Wait a second. There used to be a filling on that tooth.
Oh boy.
This is gonna be expensive, isn’t it?

Your CD collection is almost as big as your ego,
and you can most likely play an instrument or
three. You’re a real hit at parties, but you’re
SO above karaoke.
What people love: You’re instant entertainment.
Unless you play the obo.
What people hate: Your tendency to sing louder than
the radio and compare everything to a freaking
song.

http://www.vote.com/vote/60254608/index.phtml?cat=4075633 asks, ‘Should the november 2nd presidential election be postponed because there is a threat of a terrorist attack’?
I guess this is one way to hold a coup. get some plastic explosives, blow up a few voting booths, and then claim there are terrorists. Wash, rinse, repeat. Postpone month after month, while you continue with your evil plans.
I wish I could say it didn’t seem like a possibility.. but, here’s vote.com, the republican stronghold, shamelessly talking about doing it.
I’d think there’d be much less chance of terrorist attack if we got the terrorist out of the white house, myself.

our band appears to have a name.. at least for the moment, we are ‘Mischief Committee’.
I like it.
I’m going to close out our sets with a sample of Harry Potter 3 and Lupin saying, ‘Mischief managed’.
Yep.
Went down to the Aurifice tonight to hang with Tory and Alex. Waater was there, as was Lara, as were many of the enviornmental structures people. Didn’t spend too much time talking to any of them since I was clanning around with my excuse for a band 😉 [reminds me, I need to chop up our latest sessions into tracks]
Anyway, so, need to go down to the Chiabant and see if I can ‘book’ us into it. One can only hope.
