Skating..

So, I went rollerblading in a rink on Saturday – and I’m here to report, no soreness that lasted more than a day.

It was insanely fun, even though I couldn’t coax Kayti out onto the floor. Most of my rollerblading skill is gone – I can’t dance on them, and I can’t reverse at any meaningful speed, and I feel really uncomfortable when I’m going backwards. But, the basics are still there, and the rest feels like it might come back, given some practice.

Today I’m in a unreasonably good mood, partially because I reviewed last night’s practice recording and I think it sounds really good (http://www.sheer.us/stuff/MischiefCommittee/MischiefCOmmittee-130806.mp3 for those of you who want to follow along) and partially because I got some cleaning and a lot of minor work tasks done.

I also paid my bills (well, I haven’t actually put them in the mail yet) and entered them all into a spreadsheet – I am determined to stop overdrawing my bank account – they always pay all my checks, but they charge me $27 per! I calculate I’ve spent about $500 in fees this year. This has got to stop.

(They’re taking shameless advantage of unorganized people everywhere)

I’m coming up on my goal for this year for my stocks, and it’s only Augest.. (of course, the market could tank at any moment). It’s looking like I might actually have all my debts paid off by january or febuary.. not quite december as I’d wanted, mostly because of my desire for sushi 😉

I did some more work on www.sheer.us – I think I’m done messing with it for a while.

$500 in bank fees?? That’s more than the cumulative total of all bank fees and credit card interest of my entire life. (Trick answer: I’ve paid $0 credit card interest in my life.)

It’s really not hard to spend less money than you make. I succeeded in doing that in college when I had only $450 for an entire semester (rent was paid by parents).

You say it’s disorganization; I say it’s lack of self control.

I have self control but am also very disorganized. I never made it thru my 1st checkbook ever, I have all my bills on auto-pay, my bills go to south dakota where Paytrust.com scans them in and pays them automatically. I don’t know my bank balance, and I’ve never balanced a checkbook. I’ve never made a budget. I find $200 stashed away in hiding places in my house. I lost $550 cash this year from 2 wallet-losing incidents 2 weeks apart. I don’t keep track of things. And yet I’ve never overdrafted

But you have stocks?!?! That makes no sense. Whatever profit in stocks you might make just went to paying the bank fees that you wouldn’t have had to pay; if the stock money was in your account instead of tied up in the stocks, it probably wouldn’t have overdrafted. There’s just no need to spend your last dollar. Go to yard sales more for the basics.

At least that is my [admittedly nothing more than a] knee-jerk reaction.

As for your mole — there are 3 signs. It needs to be black, larger than normal, and I forget the 3rd. But it’s good to get that crap treated right away.

Say Hi to your sister for me. I wish she hadn’t left school right when I was very interested in her 😀
