\nI was Catherine the Great I was my mom and dad
\nI’ve been a butcher I’ve been a baker I have been a bookmaker
\nI have skippered Clipper ships and dug for undertakers
\nI’ve lived to be 98 and I have died when I was four
\nI’ve lived through war and peace and war and war and war and war<\/p>\n

I could write a book about my past lives
\nI should write a book about my past lives
\nI died three times at Waterloo
\nThis life’s not the best but at least I’m not you<\/p>\n

\nthen you had to bring up reincarnation
\nover a couple of beers the other night
\nnow i’m serving time for mistakes
\nmade by another in another lifetime<\/p>\n

how long till my soul gets it right?
\ncan any human being ever reach
\nthat kind of light?
\ni call on the resting soul
\nof galileo
\nking of night vision
\nking of insight<\/p>\n

i think about my fear of motion
\nwhich i never could explain
\nsome other fool across the ocean years ago
\nmust have crashed his little airplane<\/p>\n

how long till my soul gets it right?
\ncan any human being ever reach

\ni call on the resting soul

i’m not making a joke you know me
\ni take everything so seriously
\nif we wait for the time till all souls get it right
\nthen at least i know there’ll be
\nno nuclear annihilation in my lifetime<\/p>\n

i offer thanks to those before me

\nmaybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime

but then again it feels like some sort of inspiration

\nor she’ll say look what i had to overcome
